Jon has the right idea, dig a well or resovoir that is capped at the bottom.

We find 4 to eight feet is great. 

It takes 1/2 PSi per foot of depth to get the air lift started. After the air is displacing the water, the water is lighter and it takes less air. A 5 psi pump is the strongest we have ever used. 5 psi will inject air in at 10 foot depth.

My API aquarium water tester and my new air pump arrived in the mail today. I immediately began testing my water to see how it compared with the test strips I had been using. To my surprise my pH level was at 8.2! What the crap?! The test strips gave me a neutral level this whole time! No wonder my sprouts have been dying off. I immediately knew I had to decrease the pH somehow. I began to think back and formulated a problem in my head. Here we go, back to general chemistry.

Well, it has been quite a long while since I have been on here. All is well with my little system.  I have had to add another light to keep up with the tomato growth.  I also built them a ladder to climb out away from the other plants in the grow bed.  Two of my three tomato plants won't flower and I'm a bit puzzled by why not. The third is chugging away producing tinny little green fruits.
