Recently, we were given about 20 small goldfish that were rescued from a local festival - we either took them or I was afraid they were just going to be thrown away. I didn't have a suitable tank…Continue

I was hoping to show a new system that we made for a community learning centre in Northern Japan. This had been set up in Minamisanriku, a town that had been practically wiped off the map by last year's earthquake and tsunami.
We had the support of the Australia and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan and several other groups, but we also have to thank two members of this forum who wish to remain anonymous, but who made a significant donation to the…

If anyone is interested we have put together some basic guides to help people who are looking at starting their own aquaponics systems. We are writing more of them every week, but the first few are now up and running.
.
A lot of this information is garnered from various sources from all over the web, and from various forums and blogs - including this one of course, but we hoped that drawing those sources together into single easy-to-read guides might be helpful.…

Last Friday, Japan Aquaponics installed their first school system in Yokohama International School - much to the delight of the Year 4 kids who helped us to put it all together and set everything up! YIS already has a small system running in their cafeteria courtesy of another one of our first client... their chef... and because of that, about a month ago we visited the school and gave a series of classes to about 100 of the children and staff. …

Hi from Worasit / Thailand.
Do you grow herbal or vegetable as alternative medicine in Japan?
Here people mainly produce common veg by hydroponic and some aquaponics but I try study in this kind plants.
Hi, Aragon
Thanks for the replay. Yeah, EXPENSIVE!!!
I'm originally from Machida and I've seen so many fishing parks (Tsuribori) go out of business (I love fishing!) wondering if there is any way to add aquaponics operation to the pond. There is one place in Kanagawa that I always go to for Koi fishing and the pond water is always dirty. They said they have to flush the water periodically (which goes straight into a near by stream). These tsuribori places are usually small businesses owned by land owners. What do you think?
Hi, Aragon
Thanks for the welcome.
I love what you did with your system and the cool videos!!! I love how compact the system is! Yeah, true. It seems like nobody really know anything about Aquaponics in Japan..... but like you said will have to start from somewhere. I believe there is big potential. Many big name corporations in Japan are starting to invest on developing fully enclosed Hydroponic system. Daiwa House has launched this really sleek high-tech system for home/community use.

but the price is too high, and there are no fish.....= no fun :)
Anyway, please Yoroshikuonegaishimasu!
Thanks,
Yu
LOL, yes that radish could definitely handle those peppers! :-)
Glad you enjoyed the book and this site! Thanks for your thanks.
Welcome Aragon :-)
A wonderful way of life. There is already a wealth of knowledge in Japan and it should thus be easy to jump start this way of life. Looking forward to getting to know you more.
God bless :-)
