Hey there!  Thanks for the friend request.  Thought it was time to just be me here too.  No telling what's going to happen now!  ;) Lol.

Here is a few more facts about it:

Sapindus Mukorossi, also known as the Chinese Soapberry, is a non polluting, non-toxic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, hypoallergenic, highly effective soap that grows on trees.

Hi TC,  here is the information regarding the Soap nuts.

They are from the Sapindus family and is called the Sapindus Mukorossi or Chinese Soap Berry tree.  It has the highest saponin content (the soap making ingredient) of all the various species.

Hey guy,

Thanks for the ad. Keep up the good work and feel free to ask any questions. I'll try to post something in a reasonable manner.

Cheers

PS Good web sites and ideas. I think we are both moving in similar directions. I'd love to know more so write away my friend.

Thanks for the welcome, I have been studying aquaponics for a while and the entire sytem just makes sense to me. I have always enjoyed being in and around farming, and believe this to be the avenue I want to pursue. I am looking forward to having many discussions with you !

Lookin' to get started.  I have a plastic tank, approx 3' cube with large drain valve and filler hole.  I think I should cut it so that the drain will be part of the vegetable bed, but how deep should I make it and what media is best,  small river rock?

Hi TCLynx, Thanks again for your help the other day. Im gonna go with the two M18's as you recommended. I noticed the outlet size is 3/4, x2 = 1.5". So I double that for my pvc drain lines? Is there 3" pvc? And if not 4" seems really large. Or should I just make 2 2" drain lines? And why does it say "undefined" on all of your other comments? Thanks take care. Daniel

Hey TCLynx,

Thanks for the hello!  I see from your bio you are in FL now - but originally from MI?

Yours was one of the posts I copy/pasted into my brain dump file - "Things often repeated"

Thanks for that !

trying to accumulate the correct information to design a proper backyard system here in Ft. Lauderdale. The heat, sun, and humidity. If I build a shade system do I also have to include box fans and misters? Just how much investment will this entail to grow a few tomatoes? I want to construct a system that is economical and protein profitable for a small family. We dont need another hobby. Beans etc sound good. Remember a month ago tomatoes were 2.50@lb now they are less than $1@lb.

Thank you for the welcome.  We are in the process of setting up our system and will be looking for Tilapia to stock our tank.  My wife, Aggie, and I will be starting off small scale to get our feet wet and who knows where it will go from there.  Your farm looks incredible.  Would love to come visit.  I'm sure we will have questions and are looking forward to answers from you and the community. Peace. Brian & Aggie

Haha, that's funny, I was wondering where you were going with the geothermal thing!! Well as I said, the problem here is really lack of sunshine, although the climate is gone buckwild here in the last few years with really cold winters and sunnier than normal summers so going to have to "suck it and see" I suppose!

Great stuff, appreciate that. We hadn't had snow in Ireland for about 10 years up to 2 years ago and then we've just had two seriously cold winters! Problem here is lack of sunshine but the winters are usually mild enough. I think supplemental heating may be required.

No access to natural source geothermal heating but I'm putting in an air to water unit in the house I'm building - maybe something like that would be useful? Are you concerned about the air temperature in the poly-shed or the temperature of the water?
