Hi Paul - I know where Rolling Oats is... We live off of County Line/Cobblestone.. Would love to get a tour of your AP system... I'm sure I'll be inspired.. :) - Juliana
Oh no, I'm sorry, I never saw this post! I used coco coir and perlite but think it gets too saturated..I'm now trying pea gravel and others with some expanded slate that I used in some of the bottom pots in the vertical towers.
What did you decide to go with? Do you recirculate the verticals back? I would love to see pics of your set up. I'm going to see if you have any up..
Hi Paul, I was on facebook earlier. The ladies at Green AcresOrganicshas their AP set up finished and was offering tours. They are a heck of alot closer then TCLynx or myself .
Their system is a commercial raft set up, based on Friendly's in HI.
Hi Paul, Sorry I took so long to get back to you. If I don't do something right away, I tend to forget. Being sick has helped either....yuck.
I have a bucket heater in my main tank. It's a 1000 watts....sold at Tractor supply. I'm using a timer on it....saving up for a tempt controller.
I also have 2 - 300 watt heaters...one in the sump...one in a nursery tank tied into the main tank.
I cover the fish tank and nursery tanks with blankets. I place styrofoam over the sumps too.
On really cold nights, I stop the flow into the growbeds. I do have water pumping into the main tank, it goes out the overflows, back to the sump(s).
I haven't done any tours (yet)...I really wanted to get more done first. You might ask TC Lynx...she has a very nice set up and I know she enjoys showing it to people.
