Thanks. I didn't recognize the nut as a nut. It took multiple tries and some thread tape but the tank drain plugs are all tight now. I've plumbed half of my system up and tomorrow will dry up some connections and try to get stalite in three stock tanks or get started anyhow. My plan is to start cycling in three of the beds and then work on the next three. Thanks again. . . G

Sometimes the bulkhead fitting isn't tightened up all the way when you get it. Usually you just need to give the nut a slight tighten up.
Hey TCL, I plumbed up a couple of stock tanks and tested them. Both are leaking in the plug area and I'm somewhat certain that it's not the plug itself that is leaking but the fitting that the plug screws into. I'm using tape and screwing them in tight. Have you dealt with this? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hi... Yes, I think so too. As a matter of fact, I just finished commenting on how great it is here myself. LOL Lots to learn about aquaponics. I'm really excited about such an energy efficient way to produce food.
I have now known about Aquaponics for 3 days and I have spent over 20 hours online studying everthing I can get my eyes on. I am so excited to get this started!!
Thanks we are in Northville about 25 miles west of Detroit and we are looking forward to being part of the Aquaponic community here and sharing lots of information with each of you.

Thank you for the welcome - I look forward enthusiastically to learning more about this system with so much potential through the aquaponic community.
Thank you so much for giving us that last minute tour of your wonderful home. I was really impressed by your ability to use the space as efficiently as you have, and look forward to future posts and discussions.
Hope your trip to D.C. was successful, and that you got to catch up on rest (I know we needed to...).
My very best,
Jesse

Thanks! Did not get a chance to meet you at the conference, but would love to come and visit your place to see your system since I am embarking on a first time system. Hope to talk to you soon. Dennis
Awesome, thank you! Yours was the one I actually wanted to print out. I can walk into a network closet and debug the various flows of ethernet cabling, but PVC plumbing leaves me with questions. :\
Yes we had Nate and his wife over for egg rolls last week. He is giving us a tour of his facility at the University on Friday :) Looking forward to learning more and setting up a nice tower ourselves.

Tell me more, why is FL a good place for Aquaponics? Also, be sure to check out the botanica:
Thanks for the friendship request. It will take me awhile to get to know everyone but it will be an adventure. I am having mosquito issues in my system at this time and have to buy some M. Dunks to alleviate this problem. I will get some photos in eventually. I have B. Tilapia, Apple Snails and Herbs (mostly S. Basil, Peppermint and Spearmint) in a raft systm. I hope to go from backyard to commercial very soon.I now sell to local venders such as: Flea Markets and produce stands. Hey, it's a start...I do have a lot of fingerlings in a 25 gal. tank if anyone needs some. Just give a donation to the cause... Ya know, to meet the needs of the fish!!!
