Had the great pleasure of meeting a fellow CA Aquapon, Andy from Santa Barbara. Got me to thinking we shouldn't be left out. There is a Florida and Colorado group so there has to be one from CA. Besides we can share links, ideas and suppliers

Hi Lori - Thanks for the quick response. I would love to visit your farm. Someone also suggested contacting Max Myers in Willits. Maybe I could make two stops on my visit. I sent you a friend request so I can message you and set up a visit soon.
Thanks again
Larry
Hi Max47 and Larry - I am located in Redwood Valley (20 min. north of Ukiah). We have 2 systems, 5 or 6 years old now. Have not been active on this site...but my systems have been up and running all this time. We raise goldfish, koi, bass and bluegill. Have grown a huge variety of veges and ornamentals. You are welcome to contact me and visit :-)

Hey Max47 - I live between Marysville and Oroville in the foothills. I joined this group last week. I'm just starting my first aquaponic garden and I'm looking for others in my area who already have a system set up, so I can look at it and ask questions. I've sent out numerous messages but haven't located anyone yet. Any suggestions?
Larry
Hi Amy!
I'm an intern at Ouroboros Aquaponic Farms in Half Moon Bay. We are partnered with a 501(c)(3) non-profit called SchoolGrown (schoolgrown.com) who's mission is to create educational opportunities with aquaponics. Feel free to give me a call (206) 790-2586, or go directly to their website and email Sundown or Jon Parr.
I believe they would both be very interested in speaking with you. Thanks!
- Ian
Hello All! Anyone in the SF Bay area interested in putting together a short intro workshop and/or series to present at the Mill Valley Library? This is my hometown, where I am residing for a bit longer, and it is one of the most active libraries I have ever seen - they are expanding into gardening education and resoources for the community, with a Seed Smart lending program, and they just received funding for a "Smart Garden" to be built by the community, based in permaculture practice, rainwater harvesting, etc - I have an Aqualibrium Garden I am talking with them about donating, (to be put on display as a teaching tool in the entry way somewhere) and it would be in concert with someone sharing knowledge about how this all works with community members...
Who knows what can come out of this? They are very open to all kinds of ideas.
Anyone excited by this? I have contact info of the person there at the library...
Thanks all!

Yes an old spa can be re-purposed as a fish tank. In fact, it is probably insulated (beteter than a fish tank) as winter is upon us and tilapia don't like water below 60°F. Insulate as best you can. I have been successful with my tilapia below the 50° mark, but its expensive. Otherwise, you'll see many deaths. Check out Murray Hallam or Glenn Martinez of Olomana Gardens on youtube. Hope that helps. btw, for your full on system, look into the CHOP 2 system.
