Two 8' kiddie pools, covered with horizontal NFT tubes for lettuce and herbs. Two barrels full of gravel and passionfruit. Filling tanks tomorrow, ordering breeding stock soon. I plan on conditioning system with bags of chicken chit until fish arrive. Greenhouse.
Please tell us something else about yourself.
I have a wife and 3 kids that help wrestle our 9 acres in the Santa Cruz mountains overlooking Monterey Bay. I'm a tradesman, looking for a change, hoping this hobby will lead to a career. I fish, surf, freedive, sail, pretty much anything in the water is fun for me. Looking forward to retiring from gopher hunting!

Hi Jon. I have a 160 acre open land that I would love to start Aquaponics farming. I live in South Africa where poverty if rife and would like to start a comercially viabile veggie and fish farm whereafter use the knowledge to pass on to the many poor communities. Like you I am in the construction business and am able to do a lot of the construction and building of facilities myself whch would be a huge saving. However I need to get some info/plans/layout ideas together with info/litriture on farming techniques etc

Kindly advise if you can assist

Best regards

Lucio

Hi Jon,

I am a fellow califonian (San Jose specifically) and I am fairly new to aquaponics. I am currently using goldfish in my IBC system, but I would like to change catfish and tilapia. I read one of your posts that you were selling some frys. Are you still selling them and do you have any available? I would love you buy some from you. Please email me at slyguy95035@yahoo.com. thanks in advance.

Hey Jon, Life gets in the way. We are doing well. The usual life struggles but we love it here and trout fingerlings are right down the road. Doesn't get much better than that. Our Gh is slowly getting done (the DWC bed is finally on line) but our "castle" drains off most of our time and $. Sold over 400 siphons on Ebay now but everyone and their brother are jumping aboard thinking it is an easy buck. They soon learn.

Here is the link on LI: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/Commercial-Aquaponics-Coop

I hope that gets u there. If not just go to LI and search: How Can We Finance an Aquaponics Operation?
