Hey TC,

More details and source. I top up about once a month but the hassles you alluded to in your terrific pdf are so very real, like getting distracted

I use float type top up valves all the time.

How much water are you losing in a week's time? You may want to check closely for leaks.

I was wondering if anyone had plans for an auto top up using some sort of float?  I have a CHOP system and have a 170 gal tank and a 100 gal sump.  I notice that in a weeks time I'm already needing to add water to top it back up to a comfortable level that wont make me nervous.  My idea was to buy a 50 gal barrel and use gravity and a float valve to the sump to top up automatically.  I'd rather not have to drill in the sump since it is buried and didn't now what kind of float valve options are available.

You can spray a good aerated worm casting tea to help against powdery mildew but a spoonful of potassium bicarbonate in some water sprayed on the plants regularly can also work against powdery mildew.

Actinovate is an organic product that stop powdery mildew and mold.  I would also get more air circulation at plant level 24 hours a day.

What do people do about mold on the plants? I live in very South Florida and we're having an especially damp (not rainy) winter. Very humid with water dripping off the plants in the a.m.

Just keep gravity in mind (water has to flow down unless you are pumping it.)

I enjoyed your presentation as well! It really explaind a lot. Especialy about some of the different types of systems. I was kinda debating on adding a sump to my system and your presentation really showed me how easy it would be to add it. Thanks a bunch!
