okay... what is a ground cloth for?
Marty, the place you are ordering the ground cloth from probably has a recommendation about staple spacing. I've heard that the ones that rust actually hold the cloth down better.
i am in central FL and the ground is sand. i am getting ready to order ground cloth and staples to hold it. about what ratio of SF or LF or ground cover cloth per staple is used?
thanks
marty
I believe Lowes and home depot around my area both carry Thuricide which is a liquid bacillus thuringiensis product.
Or there is Dipel Dust
Bacillus Thuringiensis products can be used around aquaponics. (This includes thuricide and dipel dust the ones that work against leaf eating caterpillars) Bacillus Thuringiensis only works against certain caterpillar pests but it is especially good to use when leaf eating caterpillars are your problem.
In addition to the diatomaceous earth, you can try a "tea" of any or all of these: garlic, cayenne, cinnamon. Strain it to make certain it'll go through the sprayer, and spray it on the leaves.
Neem oil is good in a soil garden, but if you use it in AP you have to be very careful not to get the media because, being an oil, it can mess things up.
You can buy worm compost and make a tea from it, which is probably the most effective. Or raise worms for your system and use your own compost (that won't help you right now, though.)
If the worms are large enough, pick them off & give them to the fish, if your fish are carnivorous or omnivorous.
Diatomaceous earth "food grade" will work
