I just found this while looking up something on Friendly Aquaponics and thought some of you might want to come down/up for it- http://www.friendlyaquaponics.com/benefits/
They are charging a pre-paid "donation" of $40-$100 so that everyone that wants to come can =) I will be there and hope some of you can make it, I am especially excited to see Friendly's tank manual since I want a custom size tank.
What you get: when you sign up for any of these benefit trainings, you will receive downloaded (only!) copies of our Micro System package ($99.95), TableTop Systems manual ($49.95), and Epoxy/Fiberglass/Plywood Tank Manual ($49.99), a total value of $199.89. You also get one day of live training with Susanne Friend and Tim Mann teaching aquaponics basics and small backyard aquaponics systems.
...
When you click on one of the buttons below and pay, you will be registered for that one-day benefit. All you need to do is show up at 9:00 am at the appropriate location, date, and time given on this page, with a photo ID to enter. You will not receive any additional information.
Expenses for room rental and any refreshments for these trainings will be subtracted from whatever donations are received. However, Susanne and I are NOT charging any fee for teaching, for contributing thousands of dollars worth of our materials, or for our airfare, hotel, or daily expenses for this day. It’s just our way of giving back to the community of aquaponics growers who support us and the aquaponics movement.
This benefit, on May 26th, 2013, is being sponsored by Planting Justice, a community development corporation located in Oakland, California. The benefit training is being held at Humanist Hall, at 390 27th Street, in Oakland, California. This is midway between Telegraph and Broadway. There is on-street parking on 27th street, and there is a wheelchair entrance from 28th street.
The proceeds of this one-day benefit will go to constructing and operating a permanent aquaponic solar greenhouse located at Planting Justice’s Farm location, soon to begin construction. They will be offering ongoing aquaponics courses to community members wishing to grow their own food using this greenhouse as soon as it’s operational.
