Hi Justin, I wish I were closer to Lincoln, sounds ideal. If anyone knows of something like this closer to Elk Grove, let me know.

Anybody out towards Lincoln area that might be interested in renting some space for soil or AP farming? Met a couple at the State Fair that said they have a perfect spot, acreage beside a river, standing building w power. I received a follow up call about it and I said i would ask around so if you're interested message for further info.

I live in Chico, but grew up in Arizona, so I felt a connection, and joined the Arizona Group.

David Schwinghamer's group Arizona Aquaponics has become one of the most interesting and active groups on TheAquaponicSource and David has said that he would like to encourage people from outside of Arizona to participate, so I'd like to encourage you to join this group.  Tucson and Phoenix are obviously a little hotter than the north state, but we are not far behind,  so our experiences may not differ very much.

I don't know what it is but David told me that he wants to do a project on a larger scale and hopes everyone would contribute in some way.  So even though we don't live in Arizona he would like others to participate

Hey everybody, finally getting around to organizing a tour of local AP gardens in the Santa Cruz area. I know it's a long drive for you Sac folk, but it's a good excuse to head to the beach, eh? Camping at my place available too, for maybe a dozen tents or so, so give it a thought. Only two gardens for sure, but more will sign on hopefully. Discussion is over here:

Janet....we have a solar company that is doing this for us.  Well....he's going to calculate out our usage (including the swamp cooler to cool the greenhouse).  We've bought 1amp pumps and need to change out to them from the 7amp pumps we're currently using. But he knows that.  Should have that info soon.

I'd like to see what my usage is.  That is a great idea and inspires me to do an energy audit for my whole house to show the kids how much their energy waste costs me.

I have been looking at buying solar panels to run the Aquaponics because it is more sustainable and my goal is to make it as self sustaining as possible. Also because there is an extension cord running all the way through my yard.

Anyone have any experience with solar so far?

Thanks Paul.  I hope my wife does not read my blog.  She would flip if she knew.

nice job with the energy audit report Bob!

Comment by Bob Campbell on August 2, 2012 at 12:35pm

I recently did an energy audit of my systems and have written a report based on my finding.  I'd like to hear what others have to say.
