Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

So, after the last micro aquaponics system ended up looking and working very nicely.. but being far too big to easily transport around, we decided to make an even micro'er system!  This one can easily be split apart for transporting to schools around Tokyo and Chiba to show the kids exactly what aquaponics is.

If anyone has any information or notes about aquaponics that they use to give to children, I would love to take a look at those before I start designing them from scratch myself.

This tiny system was made out of my daughter's old bed... Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle ..... and then Recirculate! It does not necessarily look the best, but it was just a mock up trial and so far seems ok.  I will complete it shortly and will add an updated video.

This is what we have for now... and photos are in a new album on my profile:

I should also add that Sweet Water Organics is brainstorming with a Chinese born engineer currently blessed with about 20 doctoral candidates and one post doc working on developing microbial fuel cells for energy and desalination. He believes food security is the number one challenge of China today. This work would be more on commercial scale and family kit development. Sweet Water Organics(SW), the Farm, and the Sweet Water Foundation(SWF), the Academy, are a hybrid enterprise, for profit and not for profit, hoping to accelerate the diffusion of aquaponics ASAP, and especially help marry artists, scientists, aquaponists, engineers, and entrepreneur/social enterprisers. What blessings we have been given to connect across the planet on this wonderful open source collaborative platform! It is my pleasure and honor to work with you, God willing, until my 100th birthday party, about 33 years from now. Godsil

Dear Aragon, The Sweet Water Foundation, the non-profit piece of the Sweet Water Ecological Design and Engineering Web, has received a USDA grant to develop aquaponics course curricula and teacher aquaponics certification Primary School through University, as far as I'm concerned. Please send an e-mail to godsil.james@gmail.com if you would like to brainsntorm expanding this project from a USA to a global vision. Thanks!

Hi Carey,

Sorry to hear about that... I guess we all know how dangerous aquaponics could be in China!  I have added photos into a new album here on this site so you should be able to see those now.

All the best,

Aragon
