Thanks Sheri for the info but I was thinking you people would want to sell to me or is there rules or laws you cant sell dead fish? Maybe you have to sell me a live full grown fish instead?

Excellent information! The 50lb I mentioned was the bag size I figured we'd be getting, but we'd have to order a bunch of them. It'll take a week or so to get this together. If a month lead time is normal, we need to move on ordering because that's about how much we have left.

Dave Sch, imagine a nice fillet, then add a head and a tail. If no one has any that are food-size to sell, I think you can get them at the Asian food markets full size and live.

Has anyone tried this super-premium feed?

Looks great -- unfortunately it's way too expensive for us (even in bulk).

David, normally 'plate-sized' is around 2 lb live weight.  You will then probably get ~30% meat by weight.  I think the Aquaranch tilapia filets go for ~$12 per lb.

OK Feed in Tucson can order the Purina Aquamax feeds in either 10 lb or 50 lb bags (~$40 for a 50 lb bag I believe).  They should be ordered a month or so before being needed to accommodate the distribution schedules.  (520) 325-0122

Sherri,

I started to check into better prices. this is the reply I received:

We do have some pretty attractive pricing on higher quantities.  I don't know them off the top of my head, but I'm sure the business office could hook you up.  sales@premiumfishfood.com.

We do a lot of business with clubs and associations.  They buy a bunch (often by the pallet load) and then distribute it.

I need to find about 10 fresh tilapia for a fish fry I'm hosting soon. What size fish are considered full grown? These fish could either be fresh or filleted, give me some prices please?

50 lbs is not much. my last order was for 60 lbs. I did ask the Ranger feed, for prices on 2 50 lb bags. they have not replied to my price request.I like the food from premiumfishfood.com

let's hit him up for a discount.

I'm going to look into ordering some in bulk. When I get some information on prices, I'll check back here to see who would want to go in together on an order. I think we might be able to save some money this way & get larger quantities. Anyone interested?

I think suppliers are small time operators. I have contacted several about supplies, but they seem to be closed for the holidays.
