Not don't eat them! Harvest only live food. rule of thumb dead out. you have no clue to what really killed them. Use them for fertilizer, maggots but don't eat them. You can take fish to some up scale fish stores and they will find out what killed your fish. Test your water

"hey guys...if you find dead fish in your system, do you harvest them or toss them?  How long can they float in there before you would definitely just toss them?  Sadly, I went away on vacation for a few days and came back to some fish stew…"

Hi Sunset.

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems getting things going.

I am available for person consultations if you would like the help.  It's money well spent in the long run, since I will save you a bundle over time. I do design, cycle/start-ups, retrofits and maintenance of AP systems.

I also have baby tilapia for sale when you're ready again.

Welcome Sunset!

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members--no question is too basic.

A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.

Please add a profile image, participate and check in with us every day!  We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.

Sylvia
