Dr. Brooks, I am fairly new to the aquaponics community.  I live in the Queen Creek area of the Valley.  I am wanting to build a greenhouse for my aquaponics gardens.  I have heard of people cooling their greenhouse by using air pipes through the ground to cool the air or use water pipes and some kind of heat ex changer.  Are you aware of any systems like this in Arizona or can you direct me to information on these types of systems.

Starting my own aquaponics project would be amazing. I think it will be great to encourage such seemingly radical and yet sustainable means of food production in America and to teach such techniques to other people around the world. That is why I am actively looking for information on ways to set up and manage the various stages of an Aquaponic life cycle (small medium and large scale). I am also open to formal training in or around Indiana or the Midwest.
What have you been working on? Do you know of an aquaponics initiative that works with people of the tropics or sub-Saharan Africa? Please tell me more about your plans? Thank you very much.

Do you know what happened to the thread you started about aquaponics starting to get real? I wanted to read the comments but it seems to have been deleted??

Hi Dr. Brooks.  I just noticed we never did set a time!  I was just talking to Peter Condon, the Program Director for Urban Horticulture at MCC, and your name came up.  I asked if they offered any AP courses and he said he had a call placed to you to see about setting something up.  I told him he had the right man for the job!  I just enrolled in the program and hope you two can work something out for an AP class. As far as Valley View, I would still love to bring my girls by to see your garden. Are tours still available?

@ Dr. George B. Brooks, Jr. - Outstanding article!  Thank you. I am now thinking that this approach would deplete the nutrients needed by the grow beds.

Hi Dr. Brooks!  I am interested in seeing the raft system you set up at Valley View.  Is it available for public viewing?  If so, when and where?  I am the garden club sponsor at my elementary school and I am always looking for new garden ideas to implement at our school. Would it be possible to bring my girls to see the system as well.  Thanks for your time.

Welcome George,

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.

A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.

Please add a profile image, participate and check in with us every day!  We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you...especially since you are generally a nice guy - LOL.

Sylvia
