This is to pat myself on the back.  I finally have the water moving through my first AP system.  It is only a 60 gallon system made with some left over half blue barrels and supported by concrete blocks.  The bell siphon was a pain, could not get it to start.  It took me a while to figure out that the stand pipe had to be reduced in diameter to allow the vacuum to be created.  All is well, still need to do some fine tuning, but hey it works.

2 feet down with 1-2 feet of river rock infront , their small, 6 inch abs/pvs with chicken wire, im tempted to cut em back but dont want to flood my yard next time it rains

Any chance of capturing the water for later use?  I know it all comes during the monsoons, but a couple tanks near by could save a fair amount of water.

Hey Zach:  Don't mess with that drainage system too much, an engineer spent a lot of time working that out.  You might be able to reroute them but the change in direction will slow down the flow.  That might be a great source of sweet water for your system too, if you are willing to invest in a large in-ground water tank for rainwater storage.  A couple of totes in the ground might work out pretty well!

@Zach - I'm curious how deep those drain pipes were.

Hi everyone, yess I have the Chop II system with a sump which gives me headaches.  The beds emptying is always out of sink and turning my pump off.  I am entertaining ideas on a fix.  I have 5 month old  Blue tilapia that I plan on breeding although they are illegal here.

got halfway done digging the new pond and hit 2 drainage pipes they added to my yard( i have neighbors on 3 sides), regretting more and more living in a cookie cutter house, looks like the soil garden is moving over some

@David : I'm pretty sure that any level of nitrite is worth being concerned about.
