Has anyone here had any luck with growing tomatoes or peppers in a raft bed?
Welcome Stephan! you'll love your new hobby. I've been cycling now for about 2 1/2 weeks and my plants are growing crazy! I just wish my nitrites would go down faster! I tell my wife it's funny that I can grow such great plants just by adding ammonia every morning. I've got it down now to where I add about 2-3 cap fulls of ammonia in the evening and 1 cap full in the morning, then when I check the water levels in the next evening the ammonia is gone, and my nitrates are between 10-20 ppm. I guess I'm at that stage where it's just waiting for the nitrites to go away. If I were to do my system over again I'd probably go with an IBC tote for the fish tank. The one I built is fine (it's about 170 gallons) but when I think of expanding I kind of wish I had a bigger FT. I may just get an IBC and use the FT I built as a sump. Oh hey, I do got a quick question for you guys.... I'm getting algae starting to form on the edges of my FT do any of you guys use any algae eaters?
If you noticed when you first got here, the icon for this group is that system you are wanting to build. Phil of tank and barrel is where I started too. Glad to see you found us!
Hey everyone, just joined the group today, a pleasure to meet you all i'm sure.
I plan on setting up an IBC tote system with three 275 gallon to set up a CHOP 2 style system. I've found the totes at tanknbarrel for $100 each. Now I'm looking at the SS2 plumbing kit found else where on this website.
I'll be sure to put up some pictures once I've thrown it all together.
