So what are people feeding their tilapia these days?

I've been using the aquamax 400 but my little guys aren't so little any more and are definitely ready for a more mature feed?

I found an online store that sells a 50lb bag of aquamax 4000 for $43+$27shipping.

wish I could get it local for the $43 price tag. But still $71 is only a $1.44 per lb.

What are your thoughts?

Cold Tilapia

If you were able to keep your tilapia loss to a minimum over the January cold snap, then you did really well.

Here's what happened in Tempe Town Lake

Got a question regarding cycling.  I tested my water today and my ammonia was gone, my nitrites were gone, and I also noticed my nitrates were gone.  I've been adding about two to three cap fulls of ammonia each day and expect my ammonia to be gone by the next day, this is the first time my nitrites went to zero so I was really happy, I was just curious to see that my nitrates also went to zero I have noticed they have been getting lighter in color and figured the plants were eating them up.  I guess my question Is:  is this a supposed to happen where your nitrates can go to zero?

Hey Bob.
My first planting of bok choi started to head so I pinched it off. I had one last week and it still tasted good.
My second batch isn't big enough to head yet and it didn't.

Not directly aquaponics related but has anyone else had their Bok Choy head? Seems like all mine decided to head when we had that "one" warm day last week. So about 15 super nice plants decided it was time to go south and took my hopes of some wicked stir fries with them.

@ Matt. Whatever it is you are doing, you seem to be doing it well.

Finally got my system torn down today and found that one pesky pinhole leak. Yes! Now for the necessary modification and back in action by next Saturday.

Re: Peppers and Tomatoes. For me they did well in rafts. They just need support from above when they get big and they do GET BIG. They are also nutrient hogs so may require a more mature system for success. Also Dave, your peppers look pretty good.
