I don't know about the plant being stressed, the broccoli I have are taking off and don't looked stressed at all.
Normally a soap solution would work just fine, spraying the leaves and aphids once a week. In my case, these are so thick on about 90% of my kale that I'm just going to have to pull them. There's a few on my cauliflower plants that I was able to spray off. But man, between these things, the blasted white flies and horned worms... It's always something! Ha!
Another thing I've been told about aphids (in a class) is that they only appear when the plant is stressed or when the plant is "on its way out". I'm not sure if that is completely true but the person leading the class was pretty sure about it. This would make sense because of the temperature spike these past two weeks.
@Bob, got the same problem. My Broccoli has tons of them. I've been ripping them off whenever I find them. I noticed that they came with the broccoli, I should have known better. What is the best procedure to take care of these things?
I hate aphids! I just sprayed the soap mixture yesterday and I find that all of my Kale is infested. It is probably the temperature change that is stressing out my plants attracting these things. Time to pull :(
Side note, the spinach is sprouting in my FnD bed. It might be a little late for them but its a start! :D
Nathanael you need to go to a local feed store and have them order some food for you cuz paying 27 for shipping is crazy!
