Just wondering but what are you using the glue for? Different glues for different purposes.

My vote is with GE Type I 100% silicone.

In the extensive research I did I found that it's almost the 'standard' for the aquarium crowd.  Ignore the warning on the back stating "Not suitable for aquariums".  That's there to avoid lawsuits...

Dirt cheap too, and readily available at the big box hardware stores.

@Jim

Thanks for doing the leg work. I was talking to some other people and they told me i could use GE %100 Silicon waterproof without mold killer and it will be safe. I do a lot of home repairs on rentals and happen to have a fresh tube in the garage so i used it. If anyone else has had a bad experience with it plz let me know.

@ Marcus:

You'll want to use aquarium silicon around the fish.  I just researched this for myself last night as I'm restoring an aquarium.  On the WEB - PetSmart shows a 10 oz caulk gun size for ~$10;  Home Despot has DAP 2.8 oz for $4.97 and bLowes has the same product for $3.98

thanks Sunset

@Randy:  pretty cool.  Knowing the surface area of exposed water easily can be translated into daily volume losses.

Ok Sunset I am going to give your evaporation question a shot.  I am taking a turf class at MCC and our instructor showed us a pretty cool site. You know what they say about having a little knowledge so if I get this wrong someone chime in. Your looking for evapotranspiration rate...that is

evaporation + transpiration = evapotranspiration

If you live in AZ you can find the daily rate of evapotranspiration by googling:

AZMET-

http://ag.arizona.edu/azmet/

click on Data Access-

click on Phoenix Greenway (or pick a station close to your location)-

click on Daily 2013 in the Standard Reports Chart-

scroll to the bottom it will be yesterdays date (because today is not done yet)

look for AZMET REF. Evapotranspiration   .23inches

As I understand it,  that number means to replace the amount of water lost due to evapotranspiration you would have to water .23 of an inch
