I have one. You can see how to use it on Satuday.

I dont have a vacuum yet, when you use it does it also suck up the gravel?

If you use an aquarium vacuum when you pull out water for a change, you can suck a lot of the solid waste & excess food out, which will help you keep it under control.

Scott's right, in a normal aquarium you figure 1: of fish/gallon. Tilapia can handle being a lot more crowded than that, but your babies are around 2-2.5" ea, so they're producing a lot of waste for the tank. It simply means you need to watch the numbers and change out some of the water pretty often to keep it safe for them.

With my API test kit in hand I wanted to test the water in my 20 gallon aquarium where the 25 fast growing tilapia are living. Ph- 6.5, Am- 0, Ni- 5, Na- 20. I was a little concerned about the 5 for nitrites but I figured my system is still about 22 days old which is considered a new system, right? Plus I have been feeding the fish a lot which could be a factor according to the api test kit book. What do you people think?

Dave S.,

Yes I do have bigger tanks outside, 2 ibc totes. Why do you think I need bigger tanks for the 25 fish I have now? I know they will grow bigger so then I will transfer the biggins to the bigger tank.
