I am. I'm going to use water from the fish tank in the raft system instead of adding chemicals like in Hydroponic.

I found the answer to my ebb and flow and raft system. Actually Stephane from local root aquaponic has a system like that. He says that he keeps the raft system water at a certain level then when it receives water flow from the ebb th eoverflow water drains back to the fish tank. 

The water has to pass thru the ebb and flow first for filtration purposes.

Are all lava rocks the same?I found a guy on craigslist who's selling lave rocks but it is it for burning on BBQ grill.
