Adopt a chicken details:  http://www.rhibafarms.com/adopt-a-chicken
Looks like they made it official.

Roosters are nice, as long as they're far away. They're also nice for dinner, but that's about it.

GardenPool has their chickens over their pond. We don't, but who knows what's in the future? I've heard of using rabbits as well.

official reply:

The Ranch House on Frye Road location is by appointment only.  We don't typically do tours of it.  I will forward your email to Mark and he will get in touch with you.

What an innovative idea.  Do any of you feed chicken poop to your fish?

I have chickens...and I have seen some setups where they house the chickens over the fish, but well, don't think I'll do that.

I am all in favor of doing silly things.. sometimes they turn out GREAT!

Ah, so I really need to figure out how to use the time I've been given, eh? Yes, Dave, you're welcome to come by to see our fishies and chickens. :)

Chickens are wonderful companions and food producers. I can't say much for turkeys, though. My tom doesn't like the fact that I'm top chicken and he's not, so he started whacking me with his wing feathers. For some reason being hit by feathers just doesn't intimidate me.

Holly, Rhiba Farms wants chicken manure, but not eggs. So their idea is/was to rent the chickens. People pay a monthly rent for the chickens, the chickens live on the farm and, well, poop on the farm, and the people get the eggs. I don't know if that was a random thought of theirs or if they still plan on doing it.

Oh...chickens are fun.  Hope you get them one day.

So...nothing particular special about RhibaFarms chicken set up and they aren't really renting out pet chickens?

What is the deal with the chickens (and renting out chickens)?
