Did the Eheim preform good for you?
I have three Renas and an Eheim. Right now the Eheim is leaking, so it's out of commission, though. Like Dave, we use them on aquariums for the breeders & fry, but not the growbeds.
I have one. I like the process of in at the bottom and out at the top. the hose is a little flimsy and there is not a pump to prime. I am used to it. it does a good job. I also have fluval 305, and a cascade 1200. all are used on aquariums not my grow-beds
Has anyone had an experience with an Eheim canister filter?
Wow, that's only a week away & I've already made commitments for that day. :( Sounds like a great opportunity, though. Can't wait to hear what others learn!
OK!! The first TAPST is officially happening! Saturday 2/11/12 all around Tucson, 9AM-3PM. The full range of systems will be featured. So far we have at least 10 systems on 5 different sites. Here is a link to more info (on our public facebook page):

It should be a great day -- hope you can make it!
Dave- thanks for sharing. The veggies seems to be growing fast since the last time.
Sheri- my plecos were a few inch bigger than the fish.
David,
don't filter the water before the grow-bed.
Maynhia Stott - thank you for sharing the lessons you are learning. I had no idea about jumping fish.
Sheri Schmeckpeper Thank you for all the great info on vacuums, worms and a new to me filter idea.
David Schwinghamer I'll check the video later.
Nice to see the system grow, David! Don't worry too much about the cloudiness. You're using different kinds of rock as part of your media, and no matter how much you rinse it, it' will release sediment for a long time. Some of that cloudiness may just be natural sediment from the rocks. It's not harmful to the fish or plants in any way. As your system matures you'll get other things - dead plant/algae residue, broken down fish waste, etc. A filter before the grow beds will keep the fish solids from mucking up the beds too much. I think Dave has a great idea if you want the tanks to look clearer.
