Hello everyone, I just finished reading all 510 pages over 3 weeks. Great info! Sorry about the blank comment, I must have hit it while going through the pages. So I have started an IBC system and it's been cycling for a month and I hope to get a lot more growth out of it soon as it heats up. Wish I read everything first before I started lol! I did find this forum after starting my system I have goldfish now and hope to get Tilapia soon.

@Sheri

Outstanding site. Thank you very much

This is a keeper for sure.

I believe the more the vine puts into fruit, the less it can put into vines, and the framework vines are very important to establish in the first two years. Also, too much fruit can weaken the plant & create a weak crop the next year. That applies to fruit trees, too.

I came across this from the Texas A&M Extension. It has some good info, but in particular note number 5. It says three year old vines should only have 16 - 24 clusters. I would assume a 2-year old vine should have much less.

@Sheri

My Concords spent year one in a tub and last year in a media bed. I got edible flavorful grapes(just a few) but this year the fruiting is excessive, I'm sure.

@jim Thanks for the quick response.

I  pruned way back last fall and the new growth has to much fruit. I'm not sure whether I should remove 10-20-30 40-.. % of the new clusters to get best results.

Good info, Jim! Rob, how old is your vine, Bob? Ours are beginning year 3, which should be the first year for good fruit (based on growth in soil, which is where ours is growing).

I didn't prune our grapes last year (year 2) and it was a big mistake. I had to prune them this year to form the main stalks and framework, so although fruit should be prolific this year, we probably won't get much.
