Dr. Brooks - Where is your post on harvesting eggs?? Thanks, phil
Hello, I'm new to this group and this will be my first post. I have a small AP (4'x8' bed and about a 250 gallon tank with sump) system up and running and I'm interested in learning more about this drip line heater everyone has been talking about.
Jim, you you post a picture or instructions about your drip line heating system?
Jim how does your manifold heater system work?
Hi Lisa
Congrats on getting your system up and running!
If you are in the SE corner of the state, what is your elevation?
You will need to keep your fish tank above 50f to keep the fish alive.
If you want fish growth you will want at least 65f water.
If you want breeding you will want over 85f water.
a couple of little 300 - 500 watt aquarium heaters should do the trick if you insulate the tanks and don't cycle after dusk.
As mentioned below, I make a pretty successful solar water heater out of 1/2" drip line. The trick is the custom manifold I make. The size is custom tailored to your system or site depending upon which is the limiting factor. I'm currently using 1600 feet of tubing and you can feel the temperature difference. The run of tubing is about 30 feet long.
Today, I was goofing with the heater while the cycling pump was off in my jacuzzi system (3 jacuzzis in tandem) and I put my hand in the water for the one that is next to the jacuzzi the warm water return enters and was surprised that I could feel the temperature difference between the two jacuzzi when they were not cycling.
Lisa, if u r looking for a fishtank heater, i got mine off amazon. jim troyer will get on here and let u know about the solar heater he invented.
Arlene, i got the same website to both links u put up. interesting about the garbage fermenting. i make kombucha, yogurt, and saurkraut. i can't imagine it'd take 3 mths to ferment it in AZ. the water would probably be gone by then. let us know if u ever do it!
i have a couple of moringa trees and haven't started utilizing the leaves, yet, and haven't gotten any pods, yet. they're almost as big as me and are in pots at this point so it'll be interesting to see how big they get. i'll be putting some in the landscape next yr. it's supposed to be good stuff!
