I'm going to toss this out here again. Has anyone here, or know of someone, who has converted their pool to a large pond? I know about the Gardenpool.org group; I am more interested in keeping the pool (which is a diving pool of 25,000 gallons) and making it into a pond. At the cheapest rate possible, since I now am on a fixed income.

Is there any business here in town that does aquaponics for a co-op or employee owned operation, or ? I would love to work in a place like that. Just curious. Now that I'm retired, I have time to look up all kinds of things. Am moving some of my bigger 4" goldfish and the Koi into the house to enjoy. My garden grow bed doesn't look at nice as yours, Kim -- I think because it doesn't get enough sun. Am delaying moving the damned thing as I know it is going to require renting a pallet jack to move. And the husband to get to doing it....

I don't really know why the hole occurred. There's a crease in the liner and the slit occurred on the crease.  I'm wondering if the tension on the liner by a full tank of water caused it to fail.   There are a couple of other spots where the fold in the liner appears to be fraying too, but they're genuine liner folds and not really a concern. 

I'm a bit puzzled to be honest.

The patch is a self-adhesive one from the same manufacturer as the liner.  It was quite thick, so I'm hoping it'll provide a level of support for that part of the liner.

Time will tell.

What caused the slit?  It looks like there was a fold in the liner there.

Well THERE'S your problem!

I finally admitted to myself that I had a leak in my fish tank.  I've been in denial for weeks.   So I let the tank slowly leak dry, this being the recommended method to determine at what level the leak is at.   Well, the tank emptied all the way out.  That must mean that I have a leak in the bottom.  Oh great!   

I snagged the fish and temporarily housed them in the DWC bed, which isn't leaking a drop.  They didn't seem to mind too much.

Since the tank was empty, I took the time to brush it out and remove all the debris that has fallen in there over the last 2.5 years.

Slapped a patch on the hole, which was remarkably obvious, and I'll find out tomorrow how well it holds.
