Here is a microscope eye that works well. The cost has come down over the years. The drivers also work with fussy Apple computers. Just look under microscope eyepieces....
Bob - I don't have much to contribute but "#5 is alive in my world".
I remember running across a digital microscope that would connect to a USB port. I'll have to see if I can find it.
We have three young Grandsons living with us, I have been trying to peak their interest in what we do.
Hi, I am not an expert but I am interested. My son is a Biology major at UC Davis and works full time in a lab so I can pick his brain from time to time. I do have a degree in Horticulture with a Botany background so I have some biology knowledge.
Thanks Paul. I'm thrilled to have you on board.
I've seen your microscopic presentations on youtube
I'll have to go back and take a closer look at what you have.
Hey Guys,
Here is a procedure for preparing compost, soil and water samples for microscopy.

I'll be more than happy to help ID items for people. Please post your picture, tell me where you got it and tell me what magnification. A cheap way to take pictures of images is to take your digital camera and put the camera lens real close to the microscope eye piece. Your cameras will auto-focus on the image.
If you want to start on a journey of exploring another cosmos, I'll be more than happy to tell you where you can get started, growing and sampling microorganisms. One trick is to recognize large clumps of microorganisms and sample. For instance, what does cyanobacteria look like on the edge of your aquaponics tank?

@Jim - Right on! It's so much more interesting to see it happening live than in a video. I've got several experiments I want to do as soon as my cover slips arrive. I'm such a novice, I remembered back in 4th grade using two slides.
I still need help identifying the various organisms. Watching the metamorphosis of this culture is amazing. I looked in on them this morning and I think there are new creatures emerging!
Hey Bob, 2 peas in a pod. I pu a medical school microscope at a yard sale some years ago with just such in mind. I'll unpack it soon. Still on one of our semis from our move along with so many other great items I can't wait to unpack. (as soon as we get into the new house.)
