Nick-

In a raft set-up the biofilter is an imperative unit.  If it is not incorporated the solids will build up on the roots and suffocate the plants.  Also there is more of the chance of anerobic activity in the water causing dead spots and causing you problems.

Yes you can pump 150 gallons of the FT water through three grow beds.  Unfortunatly, you do no say how big your grow beds are.  Provide us with the demensions of the GBs, this is a major consideration in others providing you with an answer.

Hey All (part 2.. LOL)-

Also, the original plans I purchased for a raft system didn't mention the need for filtering the water from the fish tank before it goes into the growbed tank, and since then, I've seen designs that say that step is imperative... any comments from you pros out there??

Hey All-

I'm still in the process of deciding on a design for my first set up, and I wanted to know, is it possible to have a 150 gal fish tank feeding the water stream through 3 growbeds and have 2 of those growbeds utilizing a flood and drain design, and 1 just utilizing a raft system?

I'm experimenting a bioteactor. It creates the environment to defeat pathogens thanks to an high concentration of oxygen dissolved.
