I currently hatched 2k Rainbow trout fry, 2K Brown Trout,

Have you thought about trying some trout in you system, or are the koi the best for your scale to size? Wow, Good job!

My kale and lettuce are still doing great also!  I have had tons all winter!  I can't believe it all thrived despite the freezing temps we got this winter.  Love aquaponics!

Hey everyone, you got your garden up and working yet? My goldfish pond/aquaponics system is circulating, but my fish arent really hungry right now (51 degree highs right now, so no need to feed). I still have lettuce that is growing from last year!

Hello !I'm new to this group, but have been an aqua hobbyist for over seven years now. I currently have Steelhead, Rainbow trout, Brown Trout, also native Signal crayfish. I built my own systems that are operational but are still in developmental stages. I'm looking to make a little profit or form a coop if possible. Appreciate

Tilapia show up on Craigslist here in WA.  Legally, you're not supposed to transport them without a permit, and then, only from a certified source.  The DFW offices I've spoken with don't really know what to do with people who want to raise tilapia, but the fish laws in the state are pretty draconian, partly to protect their salmonid industries, and partly because of crazy water rights laws.  In any case, most people get around these by pretending the tilapia are ornamentals (which are ridiculously exempted from all laws, unless on specific lists).

I use redundant water heaters in my greenhouse, and find that my white niles can handle quite a bit of cold.  If I let it slip below around 68F, though, their appetite is affected, so I watch it closely.  I run primarily flood-and-drain expanded shale beds, some float rafts.  I run with low carbonates, pH 6.5, ~1000G in the current system.  I'm taking parts of it offline for renovation, though, and will bring my new 1000G fish tank online in the spring, along with a lot of new beds, towers, and rafts.

Can't help with much advice abt growing in WA. Lived in AZ and my tilapia did real well there. First try here my heater failed and lost all my fish (didn't need a heater in AZ). I was able to find fingerlings on Craigs List but haven't seen any lately. Did find this place but haven't bought any fish from them so I can't recommend them but they are located in Eugene OR, Green Hill Gardens. Might not be too far from your location. Like the pictures of your setup. My wife is the same way, she won't look at the fish or feed them cause then she won't eat them. :-)

The plan was to do tilapia, but I couldn't find a local source. Plus I wasn't sure I could eat something I raised from a baby! (I know...wimpy, pathetic, etc.). So, I have koi!
