Preping to set up the greenhouse. Just not sure wich way to face it. Should the longest section face the south? Thanks for any input. Mike

Yes!
Which direction a greenhouse should face will actually be dependent on your latitude and the sight, In most temperate climates greenhouses are set up to have the South side be the long bank of windows while the North Side is more insulated.  Here in FL many greenhouses are set up with the long axis running North-South instead of East-West and not much bother is put into insulating the North side, instead much more effort has to be put into being able to keep the greenhouse cool through 9 months of the year.
Since Mike lives in Indiana, however, he is looking for as much sunlight as possible...which will be maximized by a southern orientation on the long wall.
I know I asked about this way back but Does Ning have any way to make it possible to see where a person is like maybe right under the picture like is done in so many forums?  I sometimes don't take the time to go click to other pages to get that information or if I do I often get sidetracked and don't make it back to the original discussion page to answer the question.
This is taken looking north a little over where I want to put the green house. I need to stay relatively close to the barn due to needing power without running another main. Know anything that hickory nuts and shells are good for? You can see we have two very large shag bark hickory trees on the right side of the pic. Also where you see the high weeds in front of me is a small creek that I hope will get dug out and made into a pond in a few years.
This is the veiw from the south west. I also thought about making two 30x48 houses instead of one big one 30x96.
You just need to click on the profile image to get to a member's page.  The information is right below the profile image.

Thanks. Theres another couple of acres behind me. We let the neightbor cut it for hay untill we find something to use it for.

I guess I should have mentioned in the first pic that Im standing at a higher elevation. Its about 6 feet higher on that side of the creek. I wonder how much sun I will loose during the winter?

Looks like a beautiful location.  I'm jealous.  A creek there is handy too.

Yea I know I can go to the profile page but every extra click and click back takes time it's so hard to keep track of people without a little extra information sometimes (being dyslexic I tend not to try to hard to keep some things in memory as it would get to jumbled in there.)

Mike not sure how your house lays in regards to your greenhouse location so I will give you a couple of things I wish I did. I wish I connected the greenhouse to my house somehow. I love the close proximity and the sound of running water is like a indoor pond. I would have it so I could close a double slider and open at will and go into the greenhouse. The ability to use the excess heat in the winter to pump into the residence would be awesome. Keep your greenhouse close you will be making alot of trips there. If you are like me and your wife gets pissed cause you spend so much time there you wont have far to walk to sleep in it. Mike Sylvia is dead on  about south face long side. Take into account winter angle and trees blocking the morning sun because that is when you will need the light . I personally would sacrifice the perfect angle to connect to my house though. Just some thoughts to make your decision more difficult hehe.
Mike, I believe Google Earth has a feature where you could paste a pic of your land and see the different sun/shade positions throughout the year.
