What is the best way to lower the GH

Started this discussion. Last reply by Laurie Roberts Jun 15, 2016. 35 Replies

Hello Aquapons, My GH is off the scale. My PH is holding at 7.6 to 7.8 Cant seem to move it lower with acid. Using Nylons with peat to try and help. Any Ideas. The KH is at 125ppm as well.

Hi Dave, long time no talk. I've been crazy busy. How are you doing? Did you get that brief on aeroponics? Talk to you next weekend.

Cheers

Hi David, great to hear from you.  I'd like very much to meet-up and talk.  Your systems are definitely further along than mine, perhaps I could visit your place?

Hay David, what are your temperatures?  The small varieties of tomatoes have an easier time setting blooms and fruit even as it gets too warm for most other larger tomatoes it might not be nutrients giving you trouble.

Hey David,

Yeah, I just start them in rockwool cubes in a tray then transplant into rafts when they have popped up. Works great, you just want to make sure you dont leave them in the master slab too long because as the plants get bigger, roots will want to grow into the adjacent cubes and when you pull them apart, you will break roots which slows growth for a few days.

one leg of a pair of nylons--i squeeze the peat once a day to get it to release a little faster.  You can use vinegar with molasses  about 2 tbsp each add daily until it drops to 7.0  Radical change will kill fish and plants.
