Well folks I have given the presentation to my neighbors 6th grade class. He is a teacher in a school nearby. There were 15 kids who were amazed by the growth system. They asked a lot of good questions and during the class I noticed we have a breeding pair. Seems like more is going on in the tank than just fertilizing the water!.

All in all the kids were impressed and they took a lot of photos. They will be doing a homework assignment on their visit. I was very happy to share the idea…

Update Aurora Colorado

May 10 2012

Recently we moved the IBC unit out into the backyard and I built a 12x20 hoop type green house around it and I am stunned and amazed at the growth of the plants. We are doing both raised dirt bed and aquaponic farming. The dirt farming is in plastic 3 gallon nursery pots and the aquaponics is in the IBC unit. We do water change outs so that we can supply the dirt side with the fish water as an additional nutrient.

Hello everyone,

 

My name is Dan and my wife Jamie and I are new to Aquaponics. We went to a recent local "Self Reliance Expo" looking for ideas on how to do a few things to offset food and power costs. What we found was Aquaponics. While Jamie started picking the brains of the folks at the Aquaponics booth I began looking at the system and how it works. Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.  


A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.  And please join the Colorado Aquapons group (see Groups tab above) so we can all stay in touch.
