Natural reusable grow media that not only maintain ph and provide and support benefical bacteria, But help reduce nutirent deficnecys.

3. Coral gravel 1/3 grow media I plan to use. Is made up of mostly calcium and I hope to see if it will take care of any calcium deficiency in the plants in the grow bed. It Reduces Nitrates, Maintain pH, & provide marine trace elements. I hope all these natural grow media i use together produce good results that i expect to see.

I agree, do some research before mixing much of that into your system media!!!!

My large system has about 40% of it's media is sea shells. My system is pretty strongly buffered to 7.6, no amount of acid will correct this until all the calcium carbonate is dissolved out of the shells. A pH of 7.6 is a bit too high for many plants and will lock out the iron (even if there is iron mixed into the media a pH that is too high will make it too difficult for some plants to absorb and you wind up having to add chelated iron.)

So, if you want some of this on hand to add to your system for buffering later as you need it, that is fine but it would be far cheaper to buy a bag of chicken grit to add later as you need it. IF you mix this into your system gravel, you may be very sorry.

Won't the coral buffer your PH up around 7.6 ?
