Things are much slower than i would have hoped, but i just finished a water storage system that allows my pump to run 1 minute on, about 15 off. that will change as addittional plant load is adde, but the real plus for this system, is that it allows my electric pump to be used as a back up to a wind turbine driven pump. only coming on when the wind doesnt drive enough water. just started screening in the garden to help with pest control
08-23-11 did get the tank setup and filled a couple of days ago. one of the members on this site gave me a couple hours of her time to teach what she could about aquaponics. i will be applying these lessons starting tomorrow. I did buy a comprehensive water test kit today at the aquarium supply house.additional materials and initial testing to begin in the morning.
08-18-11 today i purchased a pool of about 860 gallons for use in my system. I have also arranged for two guys to be here saturday to remove a bunch of trees to prepare the area where my setup will be. I want to get the pool full asap, while i work on the rest of the system. so far i have decided on having tilapia, and 2 4x8 raft beds. i will be partialy burying the pool, so i can have two levels of beds( if i choose this in the future). have not arrived at a configuration yet, but will soon. all flow back to the fish tank will be by gravity. and i already have two solar water heating panels to keep every thing cozy in the winter. trying to make best use of materials i already have
