You can use a hotknife, but a hole saw with fine teeth should work well, like for cutting metal. Wood hole saws have a pretty aggressive cut.

What do folks out the in Aqua-land suggest for cutting holes in 2 inch styrofoam to use for a floating raft. I kinda did a butcher job on it with a hole saw. michael

Hello everyone, I am looking to start a small AP system at home and I am looking for some advice on how big to start. I am in the military, stationed in Everett, and sometimes need to move around so I unfortunately can't have a full size system. Plus, like I said I'm in the military so money is tight. I am thinking that a used system would be more affordable then buying new, it is just a matter of finding a used system. I would like to have an assortment of fish in the tank, I am not sure if that is even possible but I like a variety and if it is not possible I will understand. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

It's official -- APer can have tilapia in their enclosed setups.
"The new ruling allows rearing of tilapia for personal use indoors (within an enclosed structure) without a fish propagation license. The four species that are allowed are Mozambique, Nile, wami, and blackchin. A transport permit is required to transport the fish from the place of purchase to your property."
