Thanks for posting this, Chi.  Watched it before dinner, then made my husband and son watch it during dinner.  Stunning.  I am so angry that we would ever do anything to harm our aquifers. And to exempt the Natural Gas industry from the Clean Water Act?  We sure seem to have a death wish as a species sometimes.

Chi, I have not watched what you posted yet, but I know that here in Michigan, they store natural gas in the ground until it's needed... maybe this is what you are referring to Sylvia?  They basically force the gas down into the bare ground... hmm?

I am a real proponent of using and making natural gas if A) it is harnessed from landfills(it cuts down on the amount that would get into the atmosphere by using it to power turbines or biogas engines), B)It is made from leftover food waste from hotels and fisheries and restaurants etc.. and anaerobically digested making methane to fuel biogas generators( it only makes water vapor and CO2 and heat in the waste stream)excepting a small amount of hydrogen sulfide that can be burned also or scrubbed out with water sparging, and or C) As a way to help get rid of all of the waste from dairies,  piggeries and the like ,  also using anaerobic digestion and then electrical generation. I guess I should put a D) in there for all the gas that is often flared from oil rigs.

It is a real shame to think back on all of those years in the oil industry that the accepted practice was to flare off all of the natural gas that was compressed in the oil when they pumped it from the ground.

I watched the PBS interview on "Gasland" and it sickened me.  I just wonder what on earth could be the reason for having to inject so many different  chemicals into the ground to fracture it.  It sounds like they are just using it as a way to get rid of hazardous chemicals.

Commercial gas, oil and coal production always makes and leaves a environmental mess and endangers all kinds of species including humans.

It is sad to see that in the name of money and profit, that companies endanger everyone.

Folks do not know what impact these productions causing. If they would know, many would think twice how much of those energies they would use, especially if they would know that the next area could be in there backyard or neighbor hood.

Renewable energy systems are expensive to setup, but in the long run will pay off by themselves. The good thing is, that you could do it little bit at a time.

The best energy saver would be, not to use energy.

I seen video clips and pictures, where they flame off a lot of gases that could deliver energies to many households for nothing. But then they force you to buy a little energy for a lot of money.

Man that video was scary. I am a huge fan of local energy but cant believe they can inject this crap into our water. What a shame and a scam. These people should be taken out and shot that are injecting this into our water.

Natural Gas is a good thing.  How they are extracting it- by fracking - is insane.  I saw the movie Gasland last year.  I was outraged!  Many of those people now have to transport water to their homes as theirs is no longer fit for consumption.
