Anyone who has a well in Central Florida knows about the iron in our water. I am starting a new system and the only water readily available is the well water. I have no doubt the fish can live in this water, but I am concerned about the bacteria's ability to deal with it. Has anyone dealt with this?

I found the answer in a lengthy pdf (http://mic.sgmjournals.org/content/8/1/58.full.pdf ). Apparently the iron actually enhances the process.

John,  I just recently started using well water in my pond.  My thought is that these fish (Tilapia) exist in the wild so why are we so concerned about it.  My fish are thriving, enough so that I am adding two new ponds to the system.

One problem with this that the water is brown in color, but my ponds are not that deep so I am sure I will be able to see the fish.I hope to have pictures soon.
