Do to some constraints where I am building the system, I will be putting in a 300 galllon fish tank with a 4x4, 16 sf bed on either side of this, each with their own 100 gallon sump and Bell siphon. I have 2 800 gph pumps.

Other than the additional cost of a 2nd sump and 2nd pump and additional plumbing, does anyone see any down side to this configuration?

Looks kind of like this:

Well, the cost of running two pumps is kind of a major downside. Have you thought about using a bridge siphon to connect your two sump tanks?

I have not, I will check that out! Thank you Alex

No prob ;)

Use a chop mk2 system I'm currently building a 4x4 bed using 50 gallon ft and 50 gallon sump 1 pump and 10 goldfish

When using more than one pump, you double your chances of pump failure.  Using the CHOP may be best

Daniel, under of the impression that CHOP and CHIFT PIST (constant height in fish tank - pump in sump tank) are the same design. But yes, if you add a second pump, then it's not really the same. Chop 2, however, works a little differently.

Why not use one pump in the fish tank pumping to both GBs with bell syphons and just drain them back into the FT. No sump needed. I have a 400 gallon fish tank and that system works fine for me.

thanks all for the input! I will keep the forum updated. I hope to have the cycle complete by late Feb/early March!
