I will need to wait till the end of the summer season to buy a unsold fabric above ground round Intex pool.

Conrad, I use folding nets to harvest my round tanks too, like Keith. They work great, that is until you have such a heavy load that you can't lift it :-)

My advice, drain that IBC, harvest fish, and then cut the IBC up into to growbeds and get yourself a round fishtank. You'll never regret it.

Just suggestion as I have a similar situation. Put a "Gate" in the IBC and run fish and water into a cheap 16 to 18 foot plastic swimming pool.  Collect the fish you want then you can see and access the fish easier with a large Dip Net to move fish back to IBC and pump water back into the IBC.

I designed a PVC Sweeper/Cleaner that rotates in the bottom of the IBC. Each arm has holes in the bottom of them and a supple bristle brush so as it Sweeps I can suck off some of the heavy build up in the bottom of the tank through the center stem PVC and off to Compost barrels.  This helps to keep water somewhat cleaner.  Then I can turn off the Sweeper and turn on Air to send down the system for aeration.  In this configuration I can not have a full net in tank.

Bill, Sounds interesting. Love to see a pic of your gate and sweeper to see how you built and made the devices.

with a net

hopping on here mths later.  Jon, why would a person like a round fishtank better than an IBC?  tried to catch 3 fish in the sump to put in the large tank for an hr today.  i think i'm gonna use worm and hook.  my kids have never been fishing.  they will now!  :)

for just one or 2 fish just soak a food pellet in water till you can put a trout hook in it and catching like any other fish. As some one suggested above putting a net in before stocking can really make life easyer.

no corners enables easier fishing catching, I think he means.  you can also have good water circulation too with no low o2 zones.  I've yet to harvest a fish but hook and line sounds like something feasible here.

Hi,

File the barbs off the hook, catch and then dispatch as quickly as possible

use gill net. use bigger hole(eye) so that only big fish will be trapped. no sweat i swear!

Y'all have it easy... I had to go to youtube to learn how to throw the cast net I bought at a local sporting good store. Then when the temps fell they were hurting so bad, I used a combo of cast net and swimming pool dip net.
