Thanks for starting this discussion.

I, for one, am a long way from sustainable aquaponics. Water replacement and water heating cooling expense as well as other cost incurred are not reaching my goals. I believe this should be an ongoing discussion at a serious level. If "sustainability" means we can support our needs under emergency conditions. We would have to form a cadre of bicycle pump operators just to circulate water let alone any possible water conservation.
