Has anyone used this material in grow beds. It is made with 20% coco fiber which will eventually break down. Can't find clay pellets. On line shipping is just out of the question. How long is the question. 45lts will cost over $40 per bag in SC. I don't want to use it if it will not last long term. Tom
Don't buy the 80/20 blend if you don't want the 20% coco fiber... the hydrocorn is the clay balls. Any dealer that handles the goofy "mix" ought to have or be able to get the plain hydrocorn.
Tom, I have am using the hydrocorn substrate since last year when hydroton went out of business. It seems to do the job, but I have noticed over the winter that salts seem to be precipitating out of some of the pebbles. I just pick them out. I don't know if it is an issue as I am no chemist, just seems unsightly to have the odd patch of white in the GB.
