Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Ning has Finally given me the ability to assign members to categories so I can recognize those folks who contribute so much here!

By default everyone starts as a member.  But then I'd like to have a few levels to recognize those are are truly experts in aquaponics (think TCLynx here), those who are almost experts, and those who might still just be getting started but are active, enthusiastic members here.

So my first take at levels is

  • Expert
  • Teacher
  • Evangelist

What do you think about those levels?

And who would you nominate to be at each of those levels?

Glad you are back, Debra.  For some reason we have been hit hard lately, but I'm trying to keep up with them and it is really helping that people are letting me know as soon as they spot suspicious activity.

Newbie = new to site Not starting of post or limited posting ability, (reduce spamming)

Greenhorns = New to  Aquaponics.

Experienced + at least 6 month to 1 year aquaponics gardening experience

Teacher = Someone that has had or currently has a aquaponics system that has time to help others with there questions or help (not every experienced person has time to "or cares to" help others)

Expert = Anyone with at-least 6 months that has a commercial aquaponics or works in the commercial aquaponics site.

Define "suspicious activity" so we can all be vigilant. Haven't noticed any myself. Or am I suspicious

Watch Season Two of AMC’s Hit Series “The Walking Dead”

Watch Season Two of AMC’s Hit Series “The Walking Dead”

Watch Season Two of AMC’s Hit Series “The Walking Dead”

Watch as this series slowly becomes a parody of a Samuel Beckett play, a veritable night-time soap opera with occasional appearances by deceased but moving, flesh-rotting, flesh-eating cameo monsters. This week, it seems that yet once again, a passel of folks will go out and root around for awhile, come back to camp, and everyone will live off the fat of Hershel's land until it is time to go out and search for Sophia again. Occasionally someone reminded Rick they're supposed to be headed for Fort Benning and he’ll get all huffy about not leaving any child behind.

Watch as writers of the series tread water at a brutally slow pace as they triy to develop individual characters, yet each subplot meant to add a layer of complexity and depth to a character instead becomes quickly resolved !

Hopefully season three will pick up the pace a bit…

Those kind of threads Jim...

Vlad, I'm gonna have to report you for posting spam :) I've got an idea, how about instead of ranks or tags, we just put in a counter that keeps track of how many posts, comments, and discussions you've made or taken part in. And possibly a rating system where people could mention whether your replies have been helpful (I know we have "likes" but they seem to be ignored for the most part) Maybe find a way to add it to an individual's profile page. That way you can know how much experience someone has with this website.

Yeah, but what if it's all bull crap and worthless Oh wait, ranking it as helpful. OK.

And Vlad, would that post be ok if you had thrown in a little "fish" or something?

You can tell I'm bored. Waiting for the 1.5 gal of honey we just canned to cool off. Yum. I know, why can it? Well the bees vanished so there was no one keeping it sterile and I sure as hell ain't about to throw out 2 gallons of the best tasting honey in years

Btw, I thought "spamming" was more trying to sell something. Oh hell we're all trying to sell something I suppose.

I'm sure the example vlad mentioned also contained links to some site which the people posting were trying to drive traffic or rankings by having links from this site.

What they probably don't realize is that I think this site is set up to "no follow" links to other sites by bots and crawlers so putting links here won't help your rankings.

Got it. Thanks TC. I should really know better. Some of my websites are up to thousands of spam comments and I gave up even acknowledging them after a few hundred. Very exciting the first week or so until you realize that 98% of them never even read the content. Just looking for backlinks. Uggs anyone?

akisment is a great plug in if you are using wordpress Jim, sure beats manually deleting thousands of spam posts every day.
