Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I have a small garden which I am using to learn before attempting a larger one. I had planted about 50 cucumber plants, and they were ruined by a worm plague.

How you control pests in larger systems?

Hi,

For worms I used dipel  ( BT ).

This is a great price ->

I have had zillions of ants putting aphids on my plants, my solution to this has been to put out a custom bait of jello mixed with Borax laundry soap.    Works awesome as jello has both sugar and protein both what ants love.

Another trick I use is I take an old Kirby vacuum  and I go thru and clean up the squash bugs and leave all the lady bugs and helpful bugs.

P.S.

I use this bulb duster to apply the Dipel.

Be sure to get underneath the leaves.

Thanks a lot.  I´ll try the jello and borax mix to control the ants, since I think that the worms come from the aphids.
