Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I'm wondering if anyone has grown cilantro successfully.  My first attempt looked like it was taking off and then it just withered and died.

I'd like some tips on growing cilantro if you have any.

Bob - here is mine.  I start all mine from seed.  They need to be down around 1/2 to 3/4 inches and take about 14 to 21 days to take off depending on time of year --  right now most come up in about 14 days (most references are that they need to be keep dark to germinate) .  Can do it anytime of year.  Just planted fall seeds will produce until around April - May 2013.  I am in Pleasanton, CA so I get the hot weather also.

Thanks Rik.  I did not plant my seeds very deep.  I'm glad to hear this is a good time to plant them, I'll give it another go.

I live in Chico so your weather is a little kinder.   I've been trying to grow it indoors; are you planting outdoors?

@bob - sorry for the delay in response, but got behind in getting back to people as I was getting ready for my presentation for the Denver Conference and packing to go.  Now I am back and can start to clean up a few things that were left undone before taking off for a great 3 days talking aquaponics.  Now on to your question.  So far all my Cilantro is outdoors, but I am re-working my indoor units with LED lights right now.  I have a chiller on it so that will help me with the media temp issues.

Make sure you know which variety you are using as bolting is a major problem.  I will let you know how the indoor trial goes.  I get the seed from Johnny's Seeds --  (good product)

Here is the seed I use:
