Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Just got followed on Twitter by Sustainability @ ASU - no results on their site for aquaponics (yet)

Seems kind of odd to me that they wouldn't have anything on their website about aquaponics currently, maybe somehow we can get them in the loop? https://twitter.com/#!/ASUgreen - I tweeted asking them about any local aquaponics projects :)

Good point Tom and welcome to our small but growing aqua group. That is funny to me also because as you probably know U of A is a huge contributor to Aquaponics. Sheri Schmeckpeper held an intro to Aquaponics class recently in an ASU building. That would be a nice project for us to get into.

Rio Salado College part of the Maricopa County Community College district does have a small aquaponics unit in operation at their school community garden in Tempe. Central Arizona College in Coolidge Az is looking at it. The Roosevelt School district in South Phoenix will have an aquaponics demonstration and education facility likely in operation by August 2012.

It's rather ironic that Rio Salado would be the one to pick up on Aquaponics, given they are know to be the district's "online college!"  :)

Dr. George, I'd like to try to get a hold of someone at CAC; I worked there for five years & am adjunct for them now. Do you know who's involved? Diane Beecroft, perhaps?

David, the class I taught was in a city building, not an ASU building. But there was a class about a week or two prior to that and it was held at ASU.

I've heard tell that Scottsdale Community has some sort of Aquaponics system in place too.  I'll have to go over there and try to investigate.

I think asugreen is my buddy Nathan he is co chair of the asu green party and majoring in sustainability

Sorry for taking so long. I have not heard back from them however if and when I do I shall forward the contact to you.
