Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Just had a visit from Greg Tarver and his wife today, they wanted to see an Aquaponic system in person before they start trying to build one of their own.  How lucky that they happened to be visiting Florida since where they currently live doesn't have too many Backyard aquaponics systems yet.

Too bad it rained on them but at least it was only a very light rain for part of the visit.

I was glad to meet them and am usually very happy to give tours around the farm to those who are interested.

Last week I got to visit some other Aquaponics systems.  Two up in Milwaukee and another near Chicago

Here is the review of the one near Chicago built by a member of Aquaponic Gardening, Philip Wolf

I have showed my system to Houston-area Scout troops working on various sustainability badges/awards (there are several between Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts I am happy to say). It demonstrates low food miles, water conservation, farming without pesticides, and several other badge requirements that can be hard to track down!

Someone with a backyard system can help a lot of youth get some of these newer badges. Come to think of it, it's a way to pack a workshop with strong youthful workers, uh trainees!

I love it.  And young people make great gravel washers!!!
