If using windows XP you need to keep the user logged in. If it auto locks the pc you will need to disable that. Noticed this if I remote desktop to the pc and close the window keeping it open, they physical machine shows the user is logged on but is not showing the screen. User must be logged in completely and screen showing for the screenshot to work.

If you are okay with spending some big bucks, an Aquacontroller Apex controller/monitor will provide remote (web) access, graphing and data logging (great for tracking temp, pH, ORP or DO trends) email/text alerts if anything is amiss and also help you to really automate a system (schedule pump cycles to the minute or control lighting, heating, chemical dosing, feeding, etc.). I use one, and I love it. However, it set me back about $500, and I didn't even opt for the dissolved oxygen module.... though I will in time.

I'd be interested in any updates to this thread. I just erected a 8'x15' greenhouse and want to design a wireless internet based monitoring/control system for it. Please contact me if you've done this.

Don’t know how dead this thread is.... In my experience (I am an electronic engineer building satellites). The easiest way for non-engineering folk to do monitoring of this kind is to use Arduino.
Arduino is an open source hardware & software development platform to get you up and running in matter of hours. The applications are endless and I am definitely planning to use this for my pilot study in aquaponics (10 x 20m) passive solar green house with both fill and drain and rafts.
I am a South African so hopefully I can get some gov funding for my project. Being third world and all.. hehe.
Hello Jacques, I'd try to find Kobus Jooste : http://aquaponicscommunity.com/profile/KobusJooste. He has been accepted into the S. African gov. I'm not sure what position he is in but at least he might be able to steer you in the right direction. I hope this helps.
