TCLynx Media Wonderland – Mount Dora
The ever popular TCLynx welcomes you to what we call her Media Based Wonderland, and you thought you were going to have to go to Disney to see that! From herbs to tomatoes to banana and lemon trees, check out what until now you have only been able to see in pictures. You can even see her famous Duckponics!
Green Acre Organics – Aquaponics for Profit – Brooksville
At Green Acre Organics, they like to say that they grow food in the newest, freshest and most green way possible and its called Aquaponics. See nearly 2000 sqft of DWC, a vertical installation and even some media beds are in the works for some wonderful crop diversity to help supply multiple local area restaurants, health food stores, farmers markets and even their own buying club, Green Acre Organics For You!

Sahib’s Research Station – Winter Park
Sahib has managed to pack in a lot into a little. Nestled behind a small strip mall in a bustling area of Winter Park near Orlando, Sahib has perfected combining different types of systems from DWC, to vertical, NFT, media and even some wick systems. Sahib cultivates catfish, Koi and Tilapia to support his multiple growing systems and research efforts.
Cosmo’s Cosmic Greenhouse – Inverness
Anyone familiar with Cosmo’s creative blog posts can only imagine why we are calling this stop on the aquaponic tour route Cosmo’s Cosmic Greenhouse where fairies and the alien Tilapia reside. Made with mostly recycled building materials, this greenhouse is innovation at its best.
Morningstar Fishermen – Aquaponics with a Mission! – Dade City
At Morningstar Fishermen, Hans Geissler was practicing aquaponics long before many even knew what it was. This research facility and mission home base has an incredible agenda of ending world hunger with aquaponics. Visit Hans and learn about their projects in Nicaraqua, Malawi and more.
Green Sky Growers/Aquatic EcoSystems Roof Top Garden – Winter Garden
This roof top greenhouse and aquaponic garden was the vision and creation of Florida citrus industy mogul Bert Roper. Located on top of The Garden Building in Winter Garden Florida, Green Sky is the first Certified Green building in the world with a commercial scale, aquaponic farm on the rooftop.
For those that think living in a neighborhood won’t allow for a sizable aquaponic system, they can’t miss Paul’s Place. Using a beautifully landscaped pond just beside his home, Paul feeds vertical stackers and over 90’ of raft trough. Paul is great example of being in a housing community and still having plenty of grow space.

I would be willing to rent a car that we could split -- even with others. I'm arriving on Thursday afternoon and could set it up. Does this work for you?

I will also be at the hotel early on Friday but will be without a vehicle. My daughter and her husband and kids are driving with me from E. TN and will be doing other things while I attend the conference. If anyone would have room for me to tag along, I would love to do ANY of the tours! I am happy to share expenses.
Thank you!

Hey everyone,
I've been away from this discussion for awhile. I for one can hardly wait till the AP conference. The farm tour is going to be a highlight I don't want to miss. Too bad FL is so BIG and the farms are so spread out. I didn't realize the distance between everything till I started mapping it out. I must be crazy to want to drive around for 4 to 5 hours to see some farms. Some people will probably opt out of the tours because of this.
It looks like there are more people that want to ride than drive in this discussion. I’m leaning that way myself. So... I started looking into a shuttle bus limo service. I found a 14 passenger ‘executive van” with a driver for $702. If we can fill the van this works out to about $50 a person. That sounds doable to me. Does anyone else want to do this?
I might. I have rented a car and have two other riders. The distances are daunting but with two others the cost of the car works out to be about $20 a person. Let me know via email if you find other riders and maybe I can help fill up the van.. My email is michael.welber@gmail.com.

Gary and I will be coming in on the 15th and renting a car. We would have room for two people to ride along. Right now we were just thinking of doing those closest to Orlando so if that fits with anyone else's idea of where to go, let us know. We are non-smokers so would need non-smokers in the car! I am deathly allergic.
Just let us know - I have already rented the car and am willing to share.

NEED RIDE. Hello all. I am new to the forum, a beginner aquaculturalist, and I just signed up for the conference. I will be getting into Orlando Thursday afternoon and staying until Sunday. I am interested in the tours and would gladly contribute to the cost associated with gas/rental equally and equitably. I am not overly concerened with where I go or which ones I see, but would like to see as much as possible. If you are hosting a tour and have room for me, please send me a message to my inbox. Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you all.

I have room for one more person Ian. We're sharing a rental car. With you on board, we'd have four so it will work out to about $16 per person plus gas. Let me know if that works for you. You can reply directly to my email address: michael.welber@gmail.com.

Hello, Everyone!
I have actually already rented a vehicle, so I'd be willing to share with people who would like a ride. Sharing in the cost would also be appreciated :) Just let me know if you still need a spot in a car and would like a ride!

Michael I would locve to split the cost with you. Looks like we ought to get a van if we have enough people. I will be there on Thursday evening maybe we could get together. Raychel

Hello, Suzie!
Yes, I still have room. I don't know what farms you wanted to visit, but you are welcome to share a ride. I just added you as a friend on here so I can message you directly. Once you confirm, we can work out the details.
Best,
Amanda
