Are you an aquaponic gardener already?
No
If so, what type of system? (pick all that apply)
We are building a log home on five acres of scrub oak, and a little river on the property. My desire to do something with the land led me to Aquaponics. Being close by, I found Morningstar Fisherman and attended a seminar. When finished w/the house in another month or so, we will build our own little Aquaponics center.

I commented on a discussion somewhere about some one wanting to grow out 1lb tilapia in a limited season. I suggested that getting all male fry via the hormone laced feed method usually required buying very large quantities or that getting manually sexed all male fingerlings meant larger fish, labor intensive and error prone sorting.

About the only thing we want to grow tilapia for anymore is to give the fry to the chickens as treats. We eat the catfish.

When Did Morning Star Change that? GreenAcres Organics got their start up tilapia for their small system just this past summer and were planning to get the stock for their big system there too? They are not set up to ship or even bag with oxygen so one has to bring their own aerator and container to get the fish home but last time I was there in July they still would have sold some fish to us.

Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions. Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.

Please participate!

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.

Sylvia
